New-Caledonia is a tiny tropical island, located in the middle of the Pacific, it is where I had the chance to grow up. At the age of seven, I discover that I am living next to the only circus school of the island. It instantly becomes a passion which hasn’t stopped growing and getting stronger since then.
Very early on, I try the tightwire, but at this point this beautiful apparatus doesn’t make a strong impression on me and I decide to stay far from it. Luckily life decides otherwise and puts me back on the wire a few years later… and I am still dancing on it!
Ten years after starting circus at the Circus School of Noumea (which in the meantime became the Circus School of New-Caledonia), the teachers founded the « creation workshop », integrating me into this project. Selected students, under artistic direction, had to create a show that would tour in the Pacific. From Fiji to Vanuatu, via Australia and of course New-Caledonia, « Ciné-Circus » toured for two years in this small part of the world. Discovering the touring way of life and the pleasure of travelling to perform, my passion for this art grows, and it is with determination that I finally audition to enter a professional circus school.
Getting accepted into the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) in Melbourne, Australia, I fly towards new adventures far from my native Island. Without any surprise, I choose tightwire as my first speciality, and after an unlikely encounter with a static cloud swing I have my second speciality.
Over the course of my life in Melbourne, I end up meeting some extraordinary people and passing lovers, who passed on the juggling bug to me, welcoming me into their group. It’s all it takes to make club passing my third speciality.
Three years later, graduating with a Bachelor of Circus Arts, I get back onto a plane towards Europe this time, and more specifically towards France where the discipline of the tightwire is a lot more developed. Shortly after my arrival, I audition for NoFit State circus and thus get my first contract in their show « Open House » in which I will tour in the UK for two summers.
« Open House » was an outdoor show combining acts and workshops. I was performing tightwire, club passing, some partner acrobatics, skipping, singing and dancing. It was a show which perfectly reflected my vision and love of circus; close to the audience, requiring strong group cohesion, a big capcity for adaptation (the weather being rather umpredictable in the UK!), and also reflecting my personality; extremely joyous and dynamic!
At the end of my contract with NoFit State, my motivation to push my artisitc path found me auditioning and being accepted into a professional dance school.
So here I am, in Nice at the professional dance school Off Jazz, where for the second year in a row I am practicing contemporary dance, jazz, ballet, as well as learning pointe and tap (which can now be added to the list of my passions). Training dance drives my artistic vision, enriching my creativity and vocabulary on the wire, thus enabling me to fully ally dance and circus.
I am also taking singing lessons again as the musical world is another one I would love to be part of.
I therefore have many passions and what I really like about circus is that it allows me to combine all of them. Eighteen years after my discovery of this art, I still have my head full of dreams and projects, just as many ideas, and the never ending desire to travel the world sharing my passion, either by teaching or performing.
See you soon then, on a wire, up in the air or on the ground to throw some clubs in between two bursts of laughter...
